Tezpur Medical College & Hospital (TMCH), established in 2013, is the first medical college on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River. Located at Bihaguri, Sonitpur district, Assam, TMCH was created to expand healthcare facilities and medical education in the region.
The foundation stone was laid on 21 October 2008 by Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, the then President of India, along with Shri Tarun Gogoi, then Chief Minister of Assam. Since its inception, TMCH has grown into a premier government medical college offering MBBS, MD/MS, Nursing, and paramedical courses.
It is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Guwahati. Currently, TMCH admits 125 MBBS students annually, along with 60 postgraduate students across clinical and non-clinical departments.
